Undisputed heavyweight boxing champion, Oleksandr Usyk has surprisingly rated Anthony Joshua as a better boxer than Daniel Dubois, despite Joshua’s recent knockout loss to Dubois.
Cyber Reporters gathered that Usyk, who has defeated both British fighters in his career, shared his assessment in a recent interview with TNT Sports.
When asked to compare the two fighters, Usyk stated, “Anthony Joshua is an Olympic champion, two-time world champion. Daniel is a young boy, yeah? But Anthony is the best boxer.”
Usyk elaborated on his point, saying, “You cannot compare the two guys. These are completely different types of athletes. The only thing that is in common is that they both are boxers.”
Cyber Reporters understand Usyk’s opinion carries weight, given his victories over both Joshua and Dubois.
He defeated Joshua in back-to-back fights in 2021 and 2022, and then beat Dubois via knockout in August 2023. Joshua has since suffered a shocking knockout loss to Dubois, but Usyk believes Joshua is the more skilled boxer.
A rematch between Joshua and Dubois was initially planned, but reportedly fell through due to Joshua’s “niggling injuries.”
Dubois has since been targeting an undisputed rematch with Usyk, but the Ukrainian champion has been ordered to fight WBO mandatory, challenger Joseph Parker instead.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that the former two-time heavyweight champion is focused on just two potential opponents for his next fight: Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois.
Hearn hopes to organize a fight between Joshua and Fury, but notes that there are no guarantees.
