Nigeria has received a significant boost ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, as Raphael Onyedika has returned from injury.

Cyber Reporters reports that the 23-year-old defensive midfielder was forced off during Club Brugge’s league match against Standard Liege last month, but has now been named in the squad for tonight’s UEFA Champions League clash against Aston Villa.

Onyedika’s injury had raised concerns about his availability for Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

However, his inclusion in Club Brugge’s squad for the UEFA Champions League encounter suggests that he has recovered from his injury.

The news will be a welcome relief for Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro Eric Chelle, who is preparing his team for crucial World Cup qualifiers later this month.

Onyedika’s return to fitness will provide a significant boost to Nigeria’s midfield ahead of the matches against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

Club Brugge will host Aston Villa in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg encounter at the Jan Breydelstadion tonight.

Onyedika’s participation in the match will be a key indicator of his readiness for Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
