Former Super Eagles boss, Jose Peseiro is apparently planning a comeback to manager after leaving the Nigeria national team last year.
According to Record.pt, the 64-year-old is poised to succeed Christian Gross as Zamalek’s new manager. This is the Portuguese tactician’s return to Egyptian football, having previously managed Al Ahly in 2015/16.
Under Peseiro’s leadership, the Super Eagles finished second in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, falling to hosts Ivory Coast in a thrilling final. Peseiro’s contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expires in February 2024, clearing the way for his reported move to Zamalek.
Interestingly, Nigerian football star Emmanuel Amuneke played for Zamalek, the 5-time CAF Champions League winners, from 1991 to 1994.
