Al-Hilal has announced the termination of Neymar Jr.’s contract. This concludes the Brazilian’s injury-plagued 18-month stint in Saudi Arabia.

In a social media announcement, the club stated that they had “agreed to terminate the player’s contract by mutual consent”.

It continued: “the club expresses its thanks and appreciation to Neymar for what he has provided throughout his career with Al-Hilal, and wish the player success in his career.”

Since joining the club from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023, the 32-year-old has made only seven appearances.

Neymar fractured a cruciate ligament in his left knee during a World Cup qualifier for Brazil in October 2023, just two months after joining Al Hilal.

The injury sidelined him for a year. He returned to Al Hilal for two brief games in October and November, but hurt his hamstring and has not played since.

Neymar was reportedly paid roughly $104 million each year. The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star is largely expected to return to his boyhood club, Santos.
