The Metropolitan Police have handed over a complete file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) concerning a Premier League footballer suspected of rape.

The 30-year-old international footballer, whose identity is being kept secret for legal reasons, has been granted an extension of bail while investigations into allegations made by multiple women proceed.

The Premier League star was arrested in July 2022 at an address in Barnet after three women accused him of offences ranging from 2021 to 2023.

The player was initially arrested for rape and later re-arrested for two additional allegations in April and June 2021. However, due to a technicality, no further action was taken on the June 2021 incident.

The investigation continued and the player was questioned again in November 2022, according to a Metropolitan Police spokesperson.
