Tottenham Hotspur have exercised the option to extend the contract of their captain, Son Heung-min, until 2026.

The 32-year-old South Korean has been a vital player for the club since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

Son has made an impressive 431 appearances for Tottenham, scoring 169 goals, which places him fourth on the club’s all-time list.

He was named club captain in August 2023 and has also had success individually, sharing the Premier League’s Golden Boot with Mohamed Salah in the 2021/22 season.

As captain of South Korea, Son has made 131 appearances, scoring 51 goals.

This season, he has scored seven goals in all competitions, despite Tottenham’s struggles, currently sitting 12th in the Premier League table.

Son’s contract extension is a significant boost for Tottenham, securing the services of their influential captain for another two years.
