Super Eagles player, Victor Boniface will miss Bayer Leverkusen’s first game of 2025 against Borussia Dortmund on Friday, January 10th, after experiencing a setback in his recovery from a thigh injury.

Boniface who plays as the club’s striker has been sidelined since November 2024,

missing club’s last nine matches. While he appeared to be nearing a return, reports from Germany indicate he will need more time to recover.

Bayer Leverkusen has acknowledged that Victor Boniface’s return to match action has been postponed owing to a little setback in his rehabilitation, according to Leverkusen-focused blog WerkselfXtra via X.

The revelation was first reported on Sunday by Sky Sports revelation reporter Marlon Irlbacher.

The setback means Boniface will most certainly miss not only the Dortmund game, but also the following game against Mainz on January 14th. A specific return date has not yet been confirmed.

Despite Boniface’s absence, Leverkusen has performed admirably. Boniface had a great start to the season for Leverkusen, contributing eight goals and one assist in 15 appearances after signing from Royale Union SG previous year, when he scored 21 goals and supplied 10 assists in 34 games.
