Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirms that Winger Bukayo Saka will be sidelined for “many weeks” due to a hamstring injury.

The England forward exited Selhurst Park on crutches after being pulled off during Saturday’s match against Crystal Palace.

In 24 appearances this season across all competitions, 23-year-old Saka has nine goals and thirteen assists. “It is what it is. We cannot alter the fact that he is injured. We will now take advantage of this opportunity to assist him.

Since Arsenal had already lost captain Martin Odegaard to injury this season, Arteta claimed he was “putting some ideas together” to deal with Saka’s absence.

“There are a lot of factors. We are looking at everything and what we can do differently.”

According to Arteta, Saka was “gutted” and “really emotional” after learning the extent of his injury. “He is going to be out for weeks,” Arteta added. “He needs some further testing tomorrow.”

Arsenal’s next league game is against Ipswich on December 27 at Emirates Stadium (20:15 GMT kick-off).
