The Oyo State Police Command has allegedly taken the principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, Abdullahi Fasasi, into custody.

Cyber Reporters gathered that this development comes after a tragic incident occurred at the school on Wednesday.

According to sources, Fasasi was invited by the police for questioning around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday and but was subsequently detained by the authorities after honouring the invitation.

The principal’s detention is connected to a stampede that took place during a children’s carnival held at the school.

The event was organized by Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

Sadly, the stampede resulted in the loss of at least 32 young lives and the incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community, leading to investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

A source close to the principal revealed that Fasasi was invited by the police and cooperated fully with the authorities.

However, upon arrival, he was taken into custody and has been held since then.

The police have not released any official statement regarding the detention or the ongoing investigation.

The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols and event management.

An investigation will likely examine the circumstances leading up to the stampede and determine whether any individuals or organizations were negligent in their duties.

The community remains in shock and mourning following the tragic loss of young lives.

The principal’s detention is seen as part of the ongoing investigation, and it is unclear at this time what charges, if any, may be brought against him.
