Former coach of the Nigerian national team, Jose Peseiro has congratulated Ademola Lookman on winning the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year title.
Ademola had scored three goals to help Jose Peseiro’s Super Eagles team earn silver at the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Peseiro’s post emphasizes Lookman’s accomplishments, recognizing the 27-year-old’s pivotal part in Nigeria’s journey to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.
He also highlighted Lookman’s historic hat-trick for Atalanta in the Europa League final, which helped the Italian side win their first European trophy.
The Portuguese also acknowledged that Lookman’s acknowledgment was the result of the team’s “collective efforts”. This emphasizes the value of teamwork and a welcoming atmosphere for athletes to thrive.
Peseiro underscored the significance of Lookman’s triumph by noting that it follows Victor Osimhen’s victory in 2023. Nigerian players’ consecutive victories demonstrate the power of West African football and its rising stars.
“Congratulations @molalookman on winning the CAF Player of the Year 2024 award! A well-deserved recognition of your incredible talent and your significance to Nigeria and African football.”
