Two Premier League clubs, Wolves and Southampton, have fired their managers.

Southampton fired manager Russell Martin on Sunday night following a 5-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

Martin led the Saints to promotion last season, his first as manager.

Southampton’s defeat at home to Spurs was their 13th in the league this season after 16 games.

Martin represented Scotland in 29 international matches despite being born in Brighton, England. He started managing Milton Keynes Dons in 2019 and took over as Swansea City’s head coach in 2021. He was hired as Southampton’s manager two years later before being fired.

Also, Wolves severed ways with their manager, Gary O’Neil, and his backroom staff on Sunday afternoon.

O’Neil was fired following Wolves’ 2-1 Premier League loss to Ipswich Town at home on Saturday.

Jeff Shi, chair of the Wolves, responded: “We’re very grateful to Gary for all of his effort, dedication and hard work during his time at the club, and we wish him and his team the best of luck for the future.”

O’Neil joined Molineux just three days before the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
