Ademola Lookman scored a late winner to send Atalanta to the top of Serie A with a 2-1 victory over AC Milan.

The Nigerian forward’s goal in the 87th minute secured a club-record equaling ninth consecutive win for Atalanta.

The win moves Atalanta two points clear of Napoli, who host Lazio on Sunday. Napoli will have to beat Lazio to reclaim their narrow league lead.

The pressure is on Antonio Conte’s team to deliver a win after Atalanta’s impressive performance.

Alvaro Morata had equalized for Milan in the 22nd minute, canceling out Charles De Ketelaere’s 12th-minute opener.

However, Lookman’s late goal sealed the win for Atalanta, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

Atalanta’s victory sets them up nicely for their Champions League clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday.

The Italian side can strengthen their case for direct qualification to the last 16 with a win over Madrid, who will welcome back Vinicius Junior from injury.

Atalanta’s impressive form has raised hopes of a first-ever Scudetto for the club and with their current momentum, few would be surprised if they were to be crowned Italian champions come May.

Lookman’s goal was the perfect reward for the team’s hard work, and they will be looking to carry this momentum forward in their upcoming matches.
