Club World Cup Pairs Man City with Juventus; Unveils Trophy

Manchester City will face Juventus in the FIFA Club World Cup group stage next summer, while Chelsea will face Flamengo of Brazil.

Pep Guardiola’s City, who defeated Brazilian club Fluminense to win the event for the first time in 2023, will open their title defence against Morocco’s Wydad and will face Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates in Group G.

Chelsea, who won the 2021 final, was placed in Group D alongside Mexico’s Club Leon and Tunisian club Esperance Sportive de Tunisie.

The FIFA Club World Cup, which has been enlarged to 32 teams, will be held in the United States from June 15 to July 13, next year.

Group B: Paris St-Germain, Atletico Madrid, Botafogo, Seattle Sounders

Group C: Bayern Munich, Auckland City, Boca Juniors, Benfica

Group D: Flamengo, Esperance Sportive de Tunisie, Chelsea, Club Leon

Group E: River Plate, Urawa Red Diamonds, Monterrey, Inter Milan

Group F: Fluminense, Borussia Dortmund, Ulsan, Mamelodi Sundowns

Group G: Manchester City, Wydad, Al Ain, Juventus

Group H: Real Madrid, Al Hilal, Pachuca, Salzburg

In a ceremony that spanned over 90 minutes and took place at two different venues in Miami, a new Club World Cup trophy was unveiled.

In addition, incoming US President Donald Trump sent a video message, and his daughter Ivanka drew the first team.

In the opening match, Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami will face Egyptian side Al Ahly at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Paris St-Germain was drawn against Atletico Madrid in Group B, while Bayern Munich will face Benfica in another all-European group-stage match.

Teams will play each other once in the group phase, with the top two advancing to the knockout stage.
