The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has promised to seize all cars with tinted lenses in response to the nation’s escalating security issue.

This was revealed Tuesday at a press conference held at the command’s Abuja headquarters by Commissioner of Police CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

He asserts that “tinted glasses are contributing to a lot of lawlessness in the country” and that no one has the right to tint car windows.

He said: ‘’We are clamping down on all commercial vehicles and everybody tinting their vehicles. We need to see people in their vehicles. Tinted glass is contributing to a lot of lawlessness. A lot of the victims kidnapped that we have rescued have given us their word that the tinted glass made it impossible for people to know they were in distress and a lot of them at the same time covered their number plates and so deliberately did not put number plates on their vehicles.

This is to warn all the residents of the FCT that the police will enforce all laws on tinted glasses. Nobody has the right to tint their vehicles. We will enforce the laws.”

This is coming in the wake of the raving deteriorating security situation in the nation’s capital. The command confirmed a series of reported cases of kidnapping within the Territory.

According to the PPRO, some kidnap victims, through the efforts of the operatives of the command, were rescued and reunited with their family members.
