Davido, a renowned Nigerian singer, has credited his father’s teachings about faith in God for keeping him motivated during challenging times.
In a recent interview, Davido reflected on his Christian upbringing and the significant impact his father’s lessons have had on his life.
Davido’s father, a successful businessman and elder in the church, taught him to never question God’s plan.
This lesson according to Davido has helped him navigate difficult periods, including the loss of his son, Ifeanyi.
Initially, Davido revealed he struggled to understand why bad things happen to good people, but his father’s words of wisdom helped him find solace in his faith.
Davido said his experiences have taught him that even in the midst of challenges, God is always working in the background.
He recalled how, a year after Ifeanyi’s passing, he welcomed twins, released the biggest album of his career, and received his first Grammy nominations.
These blessings he said helped him understand the value of trusting in God’s plan.
Ultimately, Davido’s journey has taught him that God is always present, even in the darkest moments.
He encourages others to hold onto their faith, trusting that God has their back, even when the road ahead seems uncertain.
Davido said:
“My dad is very successful, but he’s an elder in the church. I grew up as a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. I attended a Christian college.
“I overcame a lot of challenges because of my dad. Initially, I did not understand, but now I’ve come to the realization. I was angry. Sometimes, I was like, ‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’ And my dad told me that you can’t question God.
“I was like, ‘What do you mean you can’t question God?’ And then a year later [after the death of my son, Ifeanyi], we had twins, the biggest album of my career came, and my first Grammy nominations came. Then it started to make sense. People go through different challenges, but just know that God has your back.”
