The Nigeria cricket team has made history by qualifying for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier finals.

Cyber Reporters reports that the team achieved this milestone with a convincing 77-run victory over Botswana in the sub-regional C qualifiers.

The decisive match took place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, where Nigeria won the toss and opted to bat first.

The team’s opening batsmen, Sulaimon Runsewe and Isaac Danladi, put on a solid performance, scoring 74 and 80 runs respectively.

This dynamic partnership propelled Nigeria to a formidable total of 181 runs for the loss of five wickets.

In response, Botswana struggled to build momentum, with their chase hampered by Nigeria’s effective bowling attack.

The standout player of the match, Ridwan Abdulkareem, delivered a phenomenal performance with the ball, claiming six wickets and helping restrict Botswana to a mere 104 runs.

With this victory, Nigeria finished the series at the top of the standings, remaining unbeaten with a perfect record of 10 points.

Botswana secured the second position with a commendable eight points. Both teams will now join the ranks of other qualifiers, including Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia, and Uganda, in the regional finals.

The top two teams from this final qualifying phase will move on to represent Africa in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, set to take place in India and Sri Lanka.
