The Super Falcons, Nigeria’s national women’s football team, have started arriving in Angers, France, ahead of their highly anticipated friendly match against Les Bleues, the French women’s national team.

The team’s interim head coach, Justine Madugu, has summoned 20 players for the encounter, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday night at the Stade Raymond Kopa in Angers.

The match is expected to be a thrilling encounter between two teams with a history of intense competition.

The friendly match against France is a crucial part of the Super Falcons’ preparation for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON.

The team will be looking to use this encounter to fine-tune their strategy, build momentum, and gain valuable experience playing against a top-ranked European team.

Historically, France has had the upper hand in encounters between the two teams.

In their previous three meetings, France has emerged victorious, including a 1-0 win at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany and two 8-0 victories in a 2018 friendly and at the 2019 World Cup in France.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 9:30 pm Nigeria time on Saturday.
