Former Manchester United youth coach, Jonathan Hill has expressed interest in becoming the head coach of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles.

Cyber Reporters reports that the team is currently seeking stability and a new direction after recent coaching changes.

Although former Nigeria international Augustine Eguavoen successfully led the Super Eagles to qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is looking to hire an expatriate coach to bring a fresh perspective to the team’s strategy and development.

Hill, who recently left his position as assistant coach at Rotherham United in the English Football League, has submitted his application to the NFF for the head coaching position.

In an interview with Sports Boom, he shared his enthusiasm for the role, citing its challenging nature and the demand for top results.

Hill praised Nigerian players, describing them as athletic, skilled, and energetic.

He emphasized the country’s vast talent pool and committed to nurturing young players who align with the team’s philosophy, with the goal of elevating the national squad’s international performance.

Hill said: “This is a position I very much fancy because of its demanding nature and the relentless pursuit of delivering top results.

“I’ve always known Nigerian players to be incredibly athletic, technically skilled, and brimming with energy.”

The NFF is expected to review Hill’s application and consider his experience and vision for the team.

If selected, Hill would bring his expertise from Manchester United and Rotherham United to lead the Super Eagles to success on the international stage.
