The former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has once again accepted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s request to testify over alleged financial embezzlement.

According to reports, the disgraced former governor visited the anti-graft agency’s office on Tuesday morning with his counsel.

His visit to the commission comes after the Supreme Court dismissed the state’s appeal challenging the constitutionality of the anti-graft agency.

It was gathered that Bello drove himself and his lawyers to the EFCC office in a black Hilux.

There were rumors last week that he was due to visit the EFCC, but the former governor’s media advisers did not reply to inquiries about the matter.

Recall that at the last hearing on the fresh charges preferred against the former governor, which was heard on November 14 before Justice Maryanne Anenih of the Federal Capital Territory High Court Maitama in Abuja, the EFCC requested an adjournment to tomorrow (November 27) in the fresh case it instituted against Bello, citing the 30-day window for the summons previously issued.

The EFCC, on the other hand, accepted his co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, to administrative bail and asked the court to grant an extension of time for the first defendant to appear.

The trial judge then deferred the case until Bello’s arraignment.
