Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has expressed confidence that he will complete his term without fear of being targeted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, or any other entity.

Cyber Reporters gathered that Uzodimma made this assertion after attending the Feast of Christ the King Mass at the Government House Chapel in Owerri.

The governor urged anyone with evidence of misconduct to come forward, stating, “I will leave office a free man, sleep with my two eyes closed without being afraid of anybody, including the EFCC.”

Uzodimma claimed that he has fulfilled all his commitments to the citizens of Imo and expressed confidence in the legacy of prosperity, infrastructure, and dignity his administration is creating for the state.

Cyber Reporters reports that this declaration comes after the EFCC’s recent apprehension of former Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa on charges of misappropriating funds amounting to ₦1.3 trillion.

Meanwhile, the Imo State House of Assembly’s recent vote of confidence in Uzodimma has sparked mixed reactions among residents, with many questioning its necessity and relevance.

Critics argue that the lawmakers should focus on addressing pressing state issues, such as bad rural roads and insecurity, rather than praising the executive arm.

Retired principal Osondu Hyacinth Eriaja expressed dissatisfaction, saying that lawmakers have more important duties than “praise-singing” and should allow the executive arm to promote its own activities.
