Edo Queens narrowly missed out on a third-place finish in the CAF Women’s Champions League, losing 4-3 in a penalty shootout to Egypt’s FC Masar.

Cyber Reporters reports that the classification match ended 0-0 after regular time, with the Nigerian champions dominating possession but failing to capitalize on their scoring chances.

Coach Moses Aduku made three key changes to the starting lineup, introducing Blessing Illiveida, Mary Mamudu, and Esther Inyang.

The team’s high-pressing strategy and aggressive approach frequently disrupted FC Masar’s attempts to play out from the back.

Despite controlling the game, Edo Queens struggled to create clear-cut scoring opportunities, and the match ultimately went to a penalty shootout.

FC Masar emerged victorious, claiming the bronze medal and leaving Edo Queens to settle for fourth place.

The result saw Edo Queens earn $300,000 in prize money, while FC Masar collected $350,000.

Both teams were making their debut in the prestigious continental competition, and the experience will undoubtedly serve as a valuable learning curve for the Nigerian champions.

Edo Queens’ impressive campaign in the CAF Women’s Champions League has showcased the team’s potential and determination.

Despite falling short of a podium finish, the team can hold their heads high, knowing they have made a significant impact on the continental stage.

The future looks bright for Edo Queens, and with the experience gained from this competition, they will undoubtedly return stronger and more determined to succeed in future tournaments.
