Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Rodrigo Bentancur has been handed a seven-match suspension and a £100,000 fine by the Football Association, FA.

Cyber Reporters gathered that the Uruguayan international was found guilty of breaching FA Rule E3, particularly sections E3.1, for using abusive and insulting language in a pre-season interview.

It was gathered that the incident in question involved racist comments directed towards teammate Son Heung-min.

Reports say the independent regulatory commission made the ruling, imposing the significant penalty on Bentancur.

Bentancur’s suspension applies to domestic competitions, leaving Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou without a key player for an extended period.

The midfielder has been instrumental this season, featuring in almost every Premier League match.

The FA’s statement reads: “Rodrigo Bentancur has been suspended for seven matches and fined £100,000 for breaching FA Rule E3 in relation to a media interview… He acted improperly, used abusive and/or insulting words, and brought the game into disrepute.”

Bentancur’s absence will be deeply felt, creating a significant void in Postecoglou’s lineup.

Tottenham will need to adjust their strategy to compensate for the loss of their influential midfielder.

The ruling serves as a strong reminder of the FA’s commitment to combating racism and discriminatory behavior in football.

Bentancur’s suspension and fine underscore the importance of promoting respect and inclusivity within the sport.
