The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has rejected the results of the Ondo State governorship election.

Cyber Reporters recalls that the incumbent governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was declared the winner, securing 366,781 votes across all 18 local government areas.

PDP’s Agboola Ajayi garnered 117,845 votes, falling significantly short of Aiyedatiwa’s tally.

Cyber Reporters reports that the results were announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC after Saturday’s election.

In a statement, PDP spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba slammed the election as “short of all expectations and requirements of a free, fair, and credible election.” He described it as the “worst election” conducted by INEC.

The PDP alleged widespread electoral manipulation, vote buying, and voter suppression by the APC.

Ologunagba cited “election merchandising, monetization, and barefaced vote buying” as evidence of the irregularities.

The PDP vows to review the outcome and take action. They urge Nigerians and the international community to address election manipulation and safeguard Nigeria’s democratic integrity.
