Legendary Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his plans for retirement, stating that he will hang up his boots when he no longer feels motivated.

This announcement came after his impressive performance in Portugal’s 5-1 win over Poland in the UEFA Nations League, where he scored twice, taking his career tally to an astonishing 910 goals.

Ronaldo, now 39, has been open about his thoughts on retirement, saying, “I just want to enjoy. Plan for the retirement… if it has to happen, in one or two years… I don’t know. I’m turning 40 soon… I really want to enjoy, as long as I feel motivated I keep going. The day I don’t feel motivated, I will retire.”

This mindset is understandable, considering his remarkable career, which has seen him dominate European football with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and now Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo’s incredible stats continue to pile up, with this match marking his 215th game for Portugal and his 134th and 135th international goals.

He has also broken another record, becoming the male player with the most international wins – 132 – surpassing Spain’s Sergio Ramos.

With his current contract with Al-Nassr running until June 2025, it is likely we will see more of Ronaldo’s magic on the pitch before he calls it quits.
