Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the Director General of Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency, ANIF, has been fired after hundreds of explicit videos featuring him with high-profile women surfaced online.

Cyber Reporters reports that the videos, discovered during a fraud investigation, allegedly show Engonga in private settings with various individuals, some connected to prominent families.

The scandal has sparked widespread outrage across the country, with many citizens calling for immediate action.

Some of the individuals in the videos are said to be married to prominent officials, adding to the controversy and increasing public demand for accountability.

Vice President Teodoro Nguema addressed the matter, condemning any inappropriate conduct within government offices.

He stated that “sexual relations in offices are prohibited” and warned that anyone violating this rule would face disciplinary proceedings and potential dismissal.

The Attorney General’s Office has opened an investigation into Engonga’s conduct and the circumstances surrounding the leaked footage.

The inquiry will assess whether any health risks were knowingly posed to others involved in the videos .

The Attorney General cautioned that:

“The population is in danger because, behind each woman involved, there are potentially spouses and other people indirectly exposed.”

If proven, Engonga could face charges for endangering public health, a serious offense under Equatorial Guinean law.

On her part, First Lady Constancia Mangue Obiang expressed concern for the privacy and dignity of Equatoguinean women, urging the government to take swift action to protect them.

The First Lady emphasized the importance of safeguarding women’s privacy and rights in the digital age.

Engonga’s dismissal was ordered by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, citing professional misconduct and behavior incompatible with his public role.

The decision was confirmed by Real Equatorial Guinea, referencing Decree No. 118/2024.

The scandal has raised questions about the government’s handling of similar cases and the need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents.
