Manchester City’s impressive 32-game unbeaten streak in 2024 came to an abrupt end on Saturday as they suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Cyber Reporters reports that the hosts drew first blood, with Antoine Semenyo opening the scoring just nine minutes into the first half.

This early goal set the tone for the match, putting Manchester City on the back foot.

In the second half, Bournemouth doubled their lead courtesy of Evanilson’s strike.

Despite a late surge, Manchester City could only manage a consolation goal through Josko Gvardiol.

Post-match, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged Bournemouth’s superiority. “We knew we couldn’t match their intensity,” he admitted.

Guardiola highlighted the hosts’ physicality and speed as key factors in their victory.

He also praised Bournemouth’s preparation, noting they had six to seven days to ready themselves for the match. “They had real good moments, and we struggled to cope,” he said.

The Manchester City boss praised his team’s start to the second half but conceded that Bournemouth’s lead proved insurmountable.

The loss serves as a wake-up call for the champions as they look to regroup and regain momentum.
