The Lagos State Building Control Agency has closed the Ikeja Golf Club due to carelessness and a disregard for public safety, Cyber Reporters reports.

Adu Ademuyiwa, the Director of Public Affairs for the LASBCA, said in a statement on Wednesday that the action came after many complaints regarding safety violations at the club.

The statement read, “The Lagos State Building Control Agency has taken decisive action by sealing off the Ikeja Golf Club at Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA, after several incidents of negligence raised concerns about the public, safety of lives and property damage.

“The closure was prompted by repeated complaints and a recent incident in which a golf ball struck a LASBCA staff member in its Ikeja Headquarters premises.

“In addition to this unfortunate incident, there have been multiple cases of errant golf balls causing damage to vehicles in the vicinity.”

“In addition to this unfortunate incident, there have been multiple cases of errant golf balls causing damage to vehicles in the vicinity.”

The organization also mentioned that there had been reports of wayward golf balls damaging nearby cars and that the club’s administration had reportedly disregarded repeated directives to install essential safety precautions like protective netting or modified play areas.

Gbolahan Oki, the general manager of the LASBCA, expressed his disgust and chastised the players and administration of the club for their seeming indifference to public safety.
