Building Collapses in Ibadan, 10 Feared Dead

A building collapsed in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State on Thursday morning, killing ten and injuring seven.

According to an Oyo State Fire Services Agency statement, the incident occurred at 2 a.m. in the Jegeda Oluloyo district of Ibadan, in the state’s Ona Ara Local Government district.

According to the statement, while 10 people were discovered from the wreckage, seven people were saved alive, and rescue attempts are still ongoing as of the time of posting this story.

The statement read, “The Oyo State Fire Services Agency received a distressed call at around 2 am this morning at Jegede Olunloyo area, Ibadan, of which 10 persons have been recovered from the debris of the collapsed building, while seven persons were rescued alive. Rescue operation is still going on.”

When contacted, Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the State Fire Services, stated, “We received a distress call from residents in the neighborhood at 2 a.m.”

“When we got there, ten people died outrightly. Three people had been recovered before we got to the place, and our men recovered four. They are still working.”
