The Super Falcons of Nigeria delivered a stellar performance on Tuesday, October 29, defeating Algeria 4-1 in an international friendly game at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

Folashade Ijamilusi stole the show, netting an impressive hat-trick that showcased her exceptional skill and goal-scoring ability.

Under the guidance of coach Farid Benstiti, the Super Falcons demonstrated significant improvement, displaying a more confident and composed approach compared to their previous match.

The tone was set early, with Ijamilusi scoring in the 12th minute from a corner kick.

Her second goal followed just nine minutes later, capitalizing on a rebound from Blessing Ilivieda’s shot that hit the crossbar.

Algeria had opportunities, including a missed penalty by Lina Boussaha in the 39th minute. However, the Super Falcons‘ resilience and determination prevailed.

The Green Ladies threatened Nigeria’s goal with a powerful shot from Laura Muller, but goalkeeper Rachael Unachukwu made an expert save to deny them.

Algeria finally broke through in the 43rd minute, with Ouassila Alouache skillfully navigating the Nigerian defense to score their only goal.

Undeterred, the Super Falcons intensified their efforts, and Gift Monday added a third goal with a strong header right before halftime.

The second half continued to entertain, with Ijamilusi completing her hat-trick with a late goal, underlining her significant contribution to the team’s performance.

The convincing 4-1 victory marked a triumphant evening for the Super Falcons, solidifying their position as a force to be reckoned with in women’s football.
