The Confederation of African Football, CAF, made a significant ruling on Saturday regarding the disrupted 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Libya.

As a result of Libya’s actions, CAF awarded three points and three goals to the Super Eagles, effectively giving them a 3-0 victory.

This decision has catapulted the Super Eagles to the top of their group with 10 points from just four matches.

The team’s nearest challenger, Benin, trails by four points, while Libya remains at the bottom with only one point.

The Super Eagles are now poised to secure qualification for the 2025 AFCON with a draw against Benin in Abidjan next month.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Morocco in December 2025, and Nigeria’s qualification would be a significant achievement.

In addition to the points award, CAF also imposed a $50,000 fine on the Libya Football Federation, which must be paid within 60 days of notification.
