Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong have been shortlisted for the 2023 Confederation of African Football, CAF, Men’s Player of the Year award.

The Nigerian duo will face stiff competition from Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Simon Adingra (Cote d’Ivoire), and Serhou Guirassy (Guinea) for Africa’s most prestigious individual football honor.

Lookman, 27, shone in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League triumph, scoring a hat-trick in the final against Bayer Leverkusen.

He also impressed for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scoring three goals in seven appearances.

Troost-Ekong was named the 2023 AFCON’s best player, leading Nigeria to a second-place finish and scoring three goals.

The CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled for December 16 in Marrakech, Morocco.
