In a stunning finale, Nigeria’s women’s U-17 national team, the Flamingos, clinched a 1-0 win over hosts Dominican Republic in the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Midfielder Shakirat Moshood sealed the victory with a powerful left-footed strike in the 89th minute.

The Flamingos dominated the match, with Moshood’s earlier attempt ruled offside by VAR and captain Taiwo Afolabi forcing the Dominican goalkeeper to make a crucial save.

After halftime, Nigeria continued to pressure their opponents, culminating in Moshood’s decisive goal.

This triumph marks the Flamingos’ third consecutive win, solidifying their position as Group A leaders with nine points.

Cyber Reporters reports that Coach Bankole Olowokoore’s team has been unstoppable, scoring eight goals and conceding just one in the tournament.

Nigeria’s impressive run began with a 4-1 victory over New Zealand, followed by a 4-0 win against Ecuador.

Olowokoore expressed gratitude for the support, promising to make Nigerians proud.

“We will give them joy, and we are going to make them proud. This is a promise we made to them before we left Nigeria, and we are fulfilling that promise.”

The Flamingos’ blistering form has set the stage for a thrilling continuation in the tournament.
