Nigerian singer Owodunni Ibrahim, better known by his stage name Primeboy, has sued the Nigeria Police Force for allegedly violating his basic human rights.

Recall that the Lagos State Police Command declared Primeboy wanted on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, after he failed to respond to a police invitation that had been successfully sent to him since the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known by his stage name Mohbad,

Primeboy’s attorney, Akinpelu Ogunbona stated in a media interview that the lawsuit was submitted to the Federal High Court in the state’s Ikoyi region.

The statement read: “Primeboy has sued the police via an originating motion filed before the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos on October 11. He prayed to the court for a couple of reliefs, some of which included a declaration that the special police gazette bulletin issued by the office of the IGP declaring Primeboy wanted was a contravention of Primeboy’s right to respect for the dignity of his human person.

Primeboy also prayed the court to delist his name from the wanted list amongst other prayers,”

Following Mohbad’s death, Primeboy has been tagged a suspect. Additionally, he turned himself in to the police just twenty-four hours after being listed as wanted.

The singer Mohbad passed away on September 12; the circumstances surrounding his death sparked debates on social media.

A 13-person special investigative team was established by the state police command on September 18, 2023, to look into the death.

Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, commonly known as Sam Larry, were also arrested as a result of his passing.

In order to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death, his remains was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy.
