Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has confirmed that defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has suffered an injury setback.

This development throws doubt on Tomiyasu’s availability for the Gunners’ upcoming Premier League match against Bournemouth this weekend.

At his pre-match press conference on Friday, Arteta addressed the situation, expressing concern about Tomiyasu’s fitness.

“Takehiro has faced a setback, but hopefully, it won’t be a long-term absence,” Arteta said.

Arteta remained cautious, emphasizing the need to monitor Tomiyasu’s progress.

“We have to see when he comes back how he reacts to the load,” he added.

Arteta praised Tomiyasu’s dedication to his rehabilitation, highlighting the defender’s tireless efforts.

“He’s been phenomenal in his rehabilitation, putting in countless hours to regain fitness,” Arteta noted.

The manager’s admiration for Tomiyasu’s work ethic underscores the player’s value to the team.

Arsenal currently occupies third place in the Premier League table, trailing Manchester City and Liverpool.

As the season intensifies, Tomiyasu’s injury may impact the team’s momentum.

Arteta’s words, “We really need him,” underscore the significance of Tomiyasu’s contribution to Arsenal’s success.
