38-year-old Spanish tennis icon, Rafael Nadal has revealed that he will hang up his racket at the end of the 2024 season.

Nadal’s final professional event will be the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, Spain, from November 19-24.

In an emotional video message, Nadal explained that he has struggled with limitations over the past two years, making it difficult for him to compete without restrictions.

“I’ve come to realize it’s time to put an end to a career that has been more successful than I ever imagined,” he said.

Nadal reflected on his remarkable 22-year journey, saying, “Everything has a beginning and an end.”

With a storied career spanning over two decades, he has accumulated an impressive 92 tour-level titles and spent 209 weeks at No. 1 in the ATP Rankings.

As a 22-time Grand Slam titlist, Nadal holds a record 14 crowns at Roland Garros.

Nadal will conclude his career on home soil, representing Spain in the Davis Cup quarterfinals against the Netherlands.

“I’m excited to end with the Davis Cup, just like one of my first great joys in 2004,” he said.

Nadal expressed gratitude to his rivals, team, and family, including his uncle and former coach Toni Nadal.

Despite struggling with injuries, Nadal’s dedication never wavered. He credited his son Rafael, born in 2019, for inspiring him to continue playing.

Nadal’s last tournament will be an emotional farewell to a sport he has dominated for over two decades.
