Brentford forward Kevin Schade has committed his international future to Germany, rendering him ineligible to represent Nigeria.

Schade’s decision came after featuring in Germany’s UEFA Nations League clash against the Netherlands on Monday.

Born in Potsdam, Germany, to a Nigerian father and German mother, Schade was previously eligible to play for Nigeria.

However, his appearance for Germany at the Allianz Arena has cap-tied him to Die Mannschaft.

Schade received a late call-up from Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann, replacing injured Robin Koch.

Prior to this, Schade played three matches for Germany without being cap-tied, leaving the option to switch to Nigeria open.

But after coming off the bench in Germany’s 1-0 win against the Netherlands, Schade is now permanently tied to Germany.

Nigeria’s hopes of having Schade represent the Super Eagles have ended as Schade’s international future is now solely with Germany.

The 22-year-old’s decision marks the end of speculation surrounding his international allegiance.
