The All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, Yenagoa Local Government Chapter, on Sunday suspended Werinipre Seibarugu, the former deputy governor of Bayelsa State, and six other members suspected of anti-party activities, Cyber Reporters report.
In addition to serving as an acting governor and speaker of the State House of Assembly, Seibarugu was the deputy to Chief Timipre Sylva, a former governor and the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.
Due to an earlier attack on Sagbama LG executive committee members by some hired thugs, the announcement of the suspensions was postponed even though seven members were punished.
Osomkime Blankson, Mr. Alex Blankson, Chief Olomo Agbama Apina, Dr. Pakinson Mamanuel, Ebiye Waripamo, and Pastor Esther Saiyou were also suspended with Seibarugu.
Blankson contested the results of the 2022 party congresses and has a pending ruling that ruled the congresses invalid.
Okokuro informed reporters that the suspension was a result of the fact-finding and disciplinary committee’s report and that the party needed to be reconstructed in order to compete in the 2027 elections.
He said, “It is on record that the parallel APC Secretariat situated at the Isaac Boro Expressway, Biogbolo is being managed by Blankson.
“It is also on record that all the aforementioned members have been involved in anti-party activities since the Senatorial bye-election in 2020 when they conspired with the People’s Democratic Party candidate and worked against our party’s candidate.
“During the 2023 National Assembly elections, they and their supporters openly worked against our National Assembly candidates.
