The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has terminated the employment of six officers for misbehavior, in accordance with the Lagos State Civil Service Commission’s directions and recommendations from the Personnel Management Board.
According to a Thursday statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Adebayo Taofiq, the General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, confirmed that the Lagos State Civil Service Commission had fully supported the Personnel Management Board’s recommendations regarding severe misconduct and general inefficiencies.
Oki affirmed that the disciplinary measures were strictly enforced in compliance with the Lagos State Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
He underlined LASTMA’s commitment to improving operations. He urged Lagos people to actively engage with the agency, providing both positive feedback and reporting of any seen malfeasance, along with supporting proof.
“I would want to inform the general public that this is a continuous process aimed at ridding the agency of rogue officers. “Another Personnel Management Board meeting will be held shortly to address additional indicted LASTMA officials,” Oki noted.
In May, LASTMA warned its officials against corrupt acts while carrying out their jobs across the state.
Oki, the GM, delivered the charge during the opening ceremony of a three-day training session for the agency’s cadet officers in Idimu, Lagos.
He said, “Any of our men caught in any illicit act, especially accepting bribes from citizens, will face disciplinary action, and they know the outcome is not palatable.”
