The Federal Capital Territory Administration FCTA Nyesom Wike declared on Tuesday that modern bus terminals are under construction in the nation’s capital city.

He stated that when its new, state-of-the-art bus terminals, which are presently being built, open for business next year, it will no longer put up with the numerous unauthorized taxi ranks and bus parks in the city center.

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike revealed this following an inspection of two bus terminals still under construction in Mabushi and Nyanya.

In a previous encounter, the minister stated that he could not take action against the owners of the unauthorized parks until he offered the public an option.

Wike, who was pleased with the speed at which the terminals were being built, had given the contractors a 15-month deadline that would expire in October 2025. However, the contractors stated that the projects would be ready for commissioning by January.

He said; “I am so excited. This site was flagged off on July 1 and within three months, you can see what they have been able to do. The time given to them is 15 months to complete the project but with the speed the contractor is going, we believe it will be before that 15 months.

He has also told us that by January, he will deliver those projects -in Mabushi and Kugbo – to us. I am happy that at the end of the day, the residents of Abuja will see that we have changed the landscape of the area, we have given them an efficient transportation system and we are very happy with what we have seen.

“By the time we finish these (terminals), you don’t need to be having those ones, we won’t allow buses and taxis to pick on the roads. Everybody has to move to the various terminals”.

Recall that the Wike had promised to curb the insecurities eating deep into the nations capital in his independence day message to citizens.
