Libya’s head coach, Nasser Al-Hadiri, has set a realistic target for their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria.

The Mediterranean Knights face the Super Eagles on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Al-Hadiri in an interview acknowledged the challenge of securing a win against the three-time African champions. Given Nigeria’s strong record, Libya’s focus will be on earning a valuable point.

“We realize that winning against Nigeria is difficult,” Al-Hadiri admitted.

The coach’s pragmatic approach reflects Libya’s current position in Group D, where they sit at the bottom with just one point from two games.

To revive their qualification hopes, Libya needs a positive result. Al-Hadiri emphasized that securing a draw would be a significant achievement.

“A draw will be positive for us and restore our hope in competing for qualification,” he stated. This outcome would give Libya momentum heading into their remaining matches.

Libya’s strategy will likely involve resilience and determination to contain Nigeria’s attacking threat. By earning a point, Libya can reignite their chances of advancing in the qualifiers.
