A 71-year-old man, Sule Adeola has been sentenced to life imprisonment by an Ekiti State High Court for raping a 10-year-old girl.

Cyber Reporters gathered that the victim, who lived with her grandmother, was repeatedly violated by Adeola, her grandmother’s neighbor, between 2021 and 2023.

The girl initially kept silent due to Adeola’s threats on her life.

Prosecutor Julius Ajibare presented a strong case with four witnesses and exhibits, including Adeola’s statement and medical reports.

Despite Adeola’s defense, Justice Blessing Ajileye found him guilty.

In her judgment, Justice Ajileye expressed concern over the rising cases of sexual assault, stating that recorded cases “hit new highs every day.”

She emphasized that the prosecution provided convincing evidence of penetration, a crucial element in proving rape.

Justice Ajileye declared, “The defendant, Sule Adeola, is found guilty of the offence of rape of a 10-year-old girl as charged. He is accordingly sentenced to life imprisonment.”

This sentencing serves as a warning to potential offenders and a step towards justice for victims of sexual assault.
