Social media critic and activist, Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan apologized to human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, for his recent disparaging remarks about the senior counsel.

VeryDarkMan, who testified before the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions on Monday, said he did not believe Falana was involved in the alleged bribery against crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and the Nigeria Correctional Service.

He said: “Apparently now, some people are taking the advantage of what is going to target Femi Falana.

“Here I apologise, it’s so sad that his name was inside that audio, I couldn’t believe as well; that is the part that irritated me more which I said I refuse to believe that he is a party to something like that.”

The blogger had released audio of a popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, commonly known as Bobrisky, claiming she bribed certain Economic and Financial Crimes Commission officials with N15 million to get the money laundering case against her dropped.

In the alleged tape, the crossdresser also claimed that her “godfather,” along with the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa, ensured she spent the six-month term in a private residence rather than a jail.

VeryDarkMan responded to the situation in a video, calling for a thorough investigation and stating that he had no intention of defaming Falana.

VeryDarkMan further claimed that Falana requested a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for N10 million.

However, in a letter dated September 25, 2024, from his legal team at Falana & Falana’s Chambers and signed by Taiwo E. Olawanle, Falana stated that he never spoke to Bobrisky about any alleged pardon or other matters, denying claims made in the video.
