The Nigerian Police have revealed plans to deploy in different states in the country as organizers insist on protesting, Cyber Reporters reported.

The Jigawa Police Command will deploy its troops today in preparation for the protest, just as the Lagos Command met with protest organizers and guaranteed them protection.

Also, the Lagos State administration stated that the restriction of the action to two selected places remains in effect, warning that demonstrators will not be permitted in other areas to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

In response to the planned protest, the Federal Government encouraged demonstrators yesterday to sheath their swords and desist from violence.

Despite requests from certain stakeholders and the Federal Government for calm, planners of the October 1 protest against the country’s misery have insisted on carrying out tomorrow’s action.

Giving reasons, one of the lawyers for the detained August 1 demonstrators, Mr Deji Adeyanju, stated yesterday that the new wave of protests follows the Federal Government’s inability to meet protestors’ previous demands.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, in a chat with Vanguard, said: “The Federal Government is appealing to all Nigerians to remain calm and refrain from any acts of violence as Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence anniversary and 25 years of unbroken democracy.

“The government of President Bola Tinubu is committed to ensuring peace, unity, and prosperity for all. It is also important for Nigerians to see opportunity in the government’s various policies, and use it for their betterment.”
