Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani is advocating for a N100,000 allowance specifically for female members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

His proposal comes on the heels of the recent increment of Corp members’ allowance to N77,000.

Sani took to X to express his thoughts, stating that female Corp members deserve a higher allowance due to the unique challenges they face.

He said: “The increase in the allowance of the Youth Corpers to 77k is commendable. But those of the Female Corpers should have been jerked up to 100k since they suffer more,” he wrote.

Cyber Reporters earlier report that the Federal Government’s increment of NYSC allowance is effective from July 2024.

Interestingly, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has already pledged N100,000 to each NYSC member completing their orientation in the state.

This move demonstrates the government’s willingness to support youth development initiatives.
