Although Artificial Intelligence (AI) is often seen as a disruptive force threatening jobs, Nigerian-American AI Ethics, Data & Governance analyst Mac Eze Nwachukwu has offered a different perspective.

The tech-guru has detailed how AI can actually be a powerful tool for creating new opportunities, particularly in emerging markets.

Nwachukwu emphasised that while concerns about AI replacing human jobs are valid, they overlook the broader potential of AI to generate employment and foster economic growth.

He stated that AI is already making significant contributions to job creation across various sectors by enhancing efficiency, enabling innovation, and opening up new markets.

Nwachukwu said in an interview with Cyber Reporters:

“Artificial Intelligence (AI) is often misunderstood as a job-replacing technology, but in reality, it is creating more employment opportunities in emerging markets through various channels.

“One of the primary ways AI is driving job creation is through the development and training of AI models.

“These complex systems require human expertise in machine learning, engineering, and research, thereby creating jobs for skilled professionals.

“As AI continues to advance, the demand for experts in these fields is likely to increase.

While AI’s potential to replace certain jobs cannot be ignored, Nwachukwu suggested that a balanced approach can mitigate its negative effects.

He added:

“It is important that governments and industries work together to create policies that ensure AI benefits everyone through data inclusivity, transparency, accountability, fairness, security, and privacy protection.

“This includes investing in education, providing retraining programs, and supporting industries that will see the most growth from AI integration.”

AI will steal 85 million jobs by 2025 (World Economic Forum).

But it’s creating 97 million new ones – and they pay much better.
