The Senate has confirmed Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as Nigeria’s substantive Chief Justice, Cyber Reporters Reported.

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, announced Kekere-Ekun’s confirmation in plenary on Wednesday after she was cleared by voice vote.

The new CJN was questioned for about two hours by MPs, who focused mostly on judicial reforms.

Senators cleared Kekere-Ekun in the Committee of the Whole.

The confirmation was placed under Section 231 (1) of the modified Constitution.

Following the confirmation, Akpabio assured everyone that Nigeria would receive sufficient justice under the leadership of Kekere-Ekun as the new CJN.

The Senate President then welcomed the new CJN and encouraged her to maintain the integrity of the judiciary.
During her screening, she stressed her staunch stance against judicial corruption.

Justice Kekere-Ekun, who was sworn in as interim CJN by President Bola Tinubu, stated this during her Senate confirmation hearing for substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.
