Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been declared winner of the Edo State 2024 governorship election.

This announcement sparked celebrations across the state, as Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes.

Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, trailed behind with 247,655 votes.

Okpebholo’s lead was significant, with a margin of 44,012 votes.

The Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata finished third, garnering 22,763 votes.

In his victory speech, Okpebholo assured Edo people that they had chosen the right leader.

However, Governor Obaseki and other opposition groups raised concerns about irregularities during the collation process.

Despite these concerns, Okpebholo vowed to develop Edo State, declaring “Edo is rising.”
