The Police Service Commission, PS, has announced the appointment of Peter Opara as the new Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
Opara replaces Benneth Igwe, who has been promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG.
He brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as CP, Force Secretary’s Office, and Deputy Commissioner, Administration and Finance, Imo State Police Command.
Opara has also held various positions, including Personal Assistant to former PSC Chairman, IGP Mike Okiro (rtd), and Senior Deputy Defence Adviser Police, Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations, New York.
In addition to Opara’s appointment, the PSC has also approved the replacement of Miller Dantawaye with CP Festus Eribo as the new Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command.
Eribo, a law graduate of the University of Calabar, has served in various capacities, including Liason Officer at the PSC, Assistant Commissioner, Federal Operations, Force Headquarters, and Area Commander in several states.
