Binance Holdings Limited has expressed its willingness to resolve any past issues with the Nigerian Government.

To facilitate this process, Binance has urged the Nigerian Government to release its detained executive, Tigran Gambaryan.

On Monday, Gambaryan was arraigned at the Federal High Court in Abuja on allegations of money laundering.

The court appearance was marked by controversy, as Gambaryan was denied a wheelchair and had to enter the court on crutches, visibly in pain and distressed.

Gambaryan’s lawyers have filed a new bail application, citing medical grounds and restricted access to their client for trial preparation.

However, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has opposed the bail application. Binance condemned the Nigerian Government’s decision to deny Gambaryan a wheelchair during the court proceedings.

The company sees this as a violation of Gambaryan’s rights and an unnecessary escalation of the situation.

The detention of Gambaryan and the denial of his bail application have raised concerns about the treatment of Binance executives in Nigeria.

By releasing Gambaryan and engaging in constructive dialogue, Binance believes that a mutually beneficial agreement can be reached.

A statement by the spokesperson of Binance reads: “A video circulating shows the mistreatment and pain he’s enduring.

“The judge ordered that Tigran be allowed to use a wheelchair, with the bail hearing continuing on September 4th. We are sharing an official statement from Binance on this matter.

“We are extremely distressed by the video of Tigran in court yesterday. This video is just a snapshot of Tigran’s current reality.

“His health is rapidly declining and we are deeply concerned about the long term consequences of this unjust detention.

“Nigeria does not need to keep Tigran in order for us to settle any alleged past issues. We continue to implore the Government of Nigeria to let Tigran return home and let us continue in our engagements.”

“Our recent resolutions with Brazil and India demonstrate how historical issues can be resolved through constructive dialogue and adherence to legal standards. This is the international standard of doing business.”
