A lawsuit against the ‘EndBadGovernance’ protesters was dismissed by a Federal High Court, as the plaintiffs failed to demonstrate adequate commitment to prosecuting their claims.
In a significant ruling on Thursday, Justice Peter Lifu struck out the suit filed against the protesters due to the plaintiffs’ failure to appear in court.
The 17 plaintiffs, representing the six geopolitical zones, had alleged that the protests violated their fundamental rights, including freedom of movement, human dignity, and national peace and security.

The plaintiffs had sought a court order mandating the Department of State Services, Inspector General of Police, Chiefs of Army and Defence Staff, and the Attorney General of the Federation to halt the protests.
However, their absence from the hearing led Justice Lifu to dismiss the suit, effectively ending the legal challenge to the protests.
The court’s decision comes as a victory for the protesters, who can now continue their demonstrations without the threat of legal repercussions.
